I had the pleasure of meeting Hugo just 4 years ago when I was introduced to him as a man who encouraged one’s faith in God. Hugo absolutely did that and so much more. I loved our get togethers and prayer time at our house, St Catherine’s, during Covid lockdown. We also shared a passion for the sea and sailing and it was fascinating to hear his many adventures straight out of a Boys Own comic! I will also keep many fond memories of starlit nights at the Vineyard allotment with Hugo naming all the star constellations you asked of him and educating me about the occasional satellites floating by. It has been a pleasure to know and be a friend of Hugo, unfortunately in my case, for too short a time. All I can say now is, in Hugo’s own words, “see you soon” chum.
